Natalie Baki Short Interview

Natalie Baki is Portfolio Managerin at Globalance.

Do you also invest intensively in the stock market yourself or are you not an active investor in your private life?
I am also an investor as a private individual, but not very active or very intense. I take a longterm approach and I don’t gamble.

You bear a great deal of personal responsibility when you invest the assets of private clients. How do you deal with this?
On the one hand, I feel very honoured to have this responsibility (and thus also the trust of my superiors and clients), but on the other hand I also have great respect for it. I think it’s very important to always be aware of the scope of your responsibility. This awareness spurs me on every day to work reliably and client-oriented, always with the aspiration of an errorfree and accurate way of working.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to invest money in the stock market but has little experience?
I have several:

  • Find your risk tolerance.
  • Keep yourself informed on a regular basis about the financial markets, geopolitical and economic developments and only invest in assets that you understand.
  • Don’t just put all your eggs in one basket, diversify your portfolio.
  • Always pay attention to the costs ( commissions, product costs, etc.). There are significant differences between the individual providers.

Which market development was the most surprising for you in recent years?
How quickly the global stock markets recovered after the slump in February / March 2020 ( COVID-19 crisis). Especially considering what a big challenge this pandemic brought and is still bringing, it was very surprising for me how short this correction phase was.

What is the most exciting task in your job at Globalance?
It is difficult to name just one task. The threads of the economy, geopolitics, megatrends and sustainability come together in my job to form a rich but also challenging tapestry that requires us to react in the right way to meet the individual needs of our clients. This demands flexibility, but also makes my job very exciting. Practically no two days are the same.

What helps you relax after a hectic day?
Sports for the endorphins, meditation for the mindfulness and time with my loved ones for the balance.
